Books
Nearly 800 books in the catalog, nearly done…
Edit: as mentioned in #House Update# we are using delicious library to catalog.

Good job! What a blessing that those books are going to be for so many generations. Books are one thing that I don’t feel too guilty about spending money on! God Bless.

You mentioned this software/hardware earlier and it sounds intriguing. Can you please refresh my memory as to what it is and where I can get it? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for sharing this resource. We are using it too and hope to get our “library” cataloged soon. More bookshelves on the way.

I’ve never counted all our books but after collecting for years and years it is safe to say we have more than a 1,000. We have a vintage book salesman that sets up shop at our homeschool convention each year. It’s always our first stop.
Your book shelves are looking full, and you are just getting started. You’ll have to invest in or build some more cases!

Wow, that is a lot of books! Though, come to think of it, my family all together probably has far above several thousand books. :)
I recently cataloged the books that I alone own and was surprised to find that I already have over 100. I didn’t even think that many would fit in my small bedroom. But, as books are a generational investment, the more (godly of course) the better!

I clicked on the link and see the references to bar codes. How does this work with old, pre-barcode books? (I’m probably missing something obvious….)

Rebecca W: Well, for pre-barcode books, one must enter the information digitally… meaning, with the fingers. :) I will often do a bunch of the books that will scan all at once, and then sit back and type in the ones which won’t. It’s backed by Amazon’s catalog (including individual sellers), so it finds a lot of things if you just search. Thanks for asking.

srl, thanks! I just got back to your blog today and saw the link. I’d looked in your #tech# files, not #house update#. As they say, d’oh! 8-)

Thank you! Sounds like a good job for some homeschoolers!
